Hooks aren’t a trick. They’re a promise. I think about them in two lanes: visual and audible.
Visual can be movement, how you enter the frame, even literally jumping into it. Fast cuts. A payoff at the top. Open with the clip everyone would normally bury at the end.
Audible can be a crisp sound that snaps the ear to attention. A zipper. A chalk clap. A line that frames the whole piece.
Or, “Here’s 3 things you need to know about…[insert product].”. People stay because the third thing is the promise. Curiosity is the engine. Your job is to fuel it fast.
The biggest unlock is simple. Put your best moment at the beginning. Not later. Not when it feels earned. Right away. Let the audience see exactly why this is worth their attention, then play the tape.
Hooks aren’t cheats. They’re clarity. An honest promise in the first moment. Make it undeniable.
