The best shots of the day came from a $200 monopod

The best shots of the day came from a $200 monopod.

On a recent shoot we skipped the gimbal and went full lo-fi. Nigel Edwards strapped our cinema cam to a stick and started moving.

Why?
–> We had 20 athletes to capture and one day to shoot.
–> Gimbals slow you down.
–> The monopod let us go low, fast, and get us into the action.
–> Nigel is talented as hell, so why not.

It’s not always about flawless movement on social.
It’s about feeling.

And when there’s imperfect moments (because there always is) it’s about embracing them, and finding personality in the grit.
